I love abstract, thought-provoking pieces! I particularly like to produce them myself, and much of my work shows. As strange as it may appear, "The Choice and the Chalices" is a direct reference to the foundational Christian belief that salvation can only be attained through accepting the salvation offered by Jesus Christ. 
To point out a few elements, we can see seven spheres - a reference to the "seven spirits of God" from the Book of Isaiah - above the head of a crowned man whose identity is hidden. In his hands he holds two cups: blood and water. The significance of these fluids is recognizable to believers, and in fact are shown as intertwining, forming a net to save one from the murky waters of the serpent below...
